How common is the problem?

It is widely accepted that Cannabis is the most commonly used illegal drug in the UK.
It is difficult to find out from surveys what the truth is regarding the use of cannabis by young people.

There are some which state that the amount being used is on the decline and others which state that it is on the increase. The problem with these surveys is that they rely on the people being interviewed to be totally honest about their use, in my experience the young people I speak to will often under estimate their usage.

The surveys are also taken of a relatively small sample and this is then taken to be the average of the whole population. My concerns from what I have seen are, the users are getting younger, the availability of Cannabis is on the increase, and the most common form of Cannabis “skunk” is a much more potent strain bred purely to increase the percentage of THC.
